Therapy

In addition to ongoing medical management and 24-hour nursing care, we provide physical, occupational and speech therapy. Our therapy department evaluates each patient to determine what they need.

Physical Therapy

Certus Healthcare’s physical therapists develop customized plans of care for each patient that include exercise, muscle retraining techniques and balance activities. Each plan is geared toward the patient’s individual obstacles on the road to recovery.  Evaluations may include assessments of the following:

Occupational Therapy

Certus Healthcare’s occupational therapists specialize in helping patients restore their ability to perform self-care and work-related tasks, and to return to the social and leisure activities they enjoy. Examples of occupational therapy activities include:

  • Gardening
  • Checking the Mail
  • Laundry
  • Cooking
  • Getting In and Out of Bed
  • Navigating a Realistically Staged Home Setting

Therapists may recommend environmental or routine changes that can allow the patient to function better at home following their time with us. Our goal is to provide a smooth transition where patients can resume day-to-day activities with confidence. For individuals who require memory care, we provide additional support to overcome problem-solving and attention-deficit challenges.

Speech Therapy

Certus Healthcare’s speech therapists evaluate neurologically impaired guests and develop individualized plans of care to treat communication disorders that arise from hearing problems, cognitive conditions, strokes or accidents.

To ensure a successful outcome, Certus provides a comforting and relaxed environment in which therapy is conducted.

The goal of speech therapy will vary according to individual guests' needs, but it generally involves improvement in pronunciation and word recognition.
